The Nikon Z8 camera has been rumored for a while, but we still don’t have any (reliable) leaked specifications. I was told, that in terms of price and specs, the Nikon Z8 will compete head-to-head with the recently announced Sony a7RV  ($3,900) – FYI here are the basic a7RV specs:

• 61MP Full-Frame Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor
• BIONZ XR & AI Processing Unit
• AI-Based Real-Time Tracking AF System
• 8K 24p, 4K 60p, FHD 120p 10-Bit Video
• 4K 16-Bit Raw Output; S-Log3/S-Cinetone
• 9.44m-Dot EVF with 120 fps Refresh Rate
• 3.2″ 4-Axis Multi-Angle Touchscreen LCD
• 10 fps Shooting with AF/AE Tracking
• 8-Stop 5-Axis Image Stabilization
• Dual CFexpress Type A/SD Card Slots

I was also told that the Nikon Z8 camera design is finalized/production-ready and the only issue holding back the official announcement is the ongoing parts shortage.

When is the Nikon Z8 official announcement expected?

• The Z8 development announcement could happen in early 2023 (just like the Nikon D4/D5).
• There is a low chance for an official Z8 announcement at the 2023 CP+ show in Japan in late February 2023 (but still a possibility).
• The most likely scenario is a Z8 announcement in late spring 2023 (late March/Q2?) and a potential shipment in/around May 2023.

What to expect from the Nikon Z8:

 

• Same form factor as the Nikon Z6/Z7
• Improved EVF
• Improved autofocus
• Same sensor as the Z9

Please note that currently there are no reliable rumors about new Z6III or Z7III cameras.

Esas especificaciones, como se dice en el primer párrafo, son las de la Sony A7RV.

En principio habla de que será el mismo sensor de la Z9.

Pero como no dice si tendrá su mismo sistema (y rendimiento) de enfoque pues estamos un poco como desde hace meses: especulando si será un galgo o si será un podenco .

Para que yo me animara a comprarla debería mejorar el enfoque de mi Z7ii actual para el tipo de fotografía que hago. Todo lo que no sea eso a mi me sobra ya que no hago video ni de coña, por ejemplo. 

Habrá que seguir esperando el conjunto de especificaciones definitivo ...... o comprar la Z9 (cosa a la que me resisto pese a que ya empieza a haber stock en algunos sitios).

Por lo menos podían haber aventurado algún cuadro de especificaciones para la Z8, no hacer un copia-pega de un modelo de otra marca. Da pensar si los editores no cobrarán de Sony...

Bueno, no tendrán ni idea realmente de lo que va a ser la cámara final. Supondrán que será la competencia de la Sony ... Y que tendrá que ser parecida para tener opciones en el mercado. 

Pero claro, si no tienes ningún dato fiable, pues ...

Claro, que se llaman Nikon rumors... Ellos mismos dejan claro que tampoco podemos esperar datos contrastados
